ZEN ROOM YOGA WELCOMES YOU

ABOUT ZEN ROOM YOGA
Be in the Moment
My yoga journey started in 2017, after I suffered a stroke. I discovered that practicing yoga gave me more strength, flexibility and coordination. After a while yoga provided an outlet where I fully felt in control of my body, and I began to feel a connection between body, mind and spirit. The lessons I learned on the mat started to translate off the mat, and I learned to better deal with stress, loss, and disappointment.
I felt led to bring this feeling to as many people possible. I obtained my RYT-200 through The Awakening Realm, and my RYT-300 through My Vinyasa Practice, as well as certification in Trauma Informed and Prenatal yoga. I’m registered with Yoga Alliance.
I want to spread the word that yoga is so much more than just exercise, and my aim is for each yogi and yogini to feel cared for, challenged, and comfortable with where they are.
Yoga is a dance between control and surrender, and I want to create a class that focuses on alignment, while working to let go of the stresses of the day, and to find mindfulness through movement.
Come flow with me for a fun, challenging, and loving practice

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restorative yoga is the practice of poses, each held for longer(up to 20 minutes per pose)than in a conventional yoga class, with the support of props such as folded blankets, blocks and bolsters to relax the body. A Restorative Yoga class consists of 4-6 poses in a 60-75 minute period. The sessions allow the body to slow down, cultivate the sense of support, and encourage relaxation. This practice is recommended for people who feel close to burnout.

CHAIR YOGA
Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so they can be done while seated in a chair. These modifications make yoga accessible to people who cannot stand, or lack the mobility to move easily from standing, to seated, to supine positions.
Many of the basic body mechanics of the individual postures remain the same. While seated in the chair, the student can do versions of twists, hip stretches, forward bends, and mild backbends. In addition to a good stretch, chair yoga participants can also enjoy other health benefits of yoga, including improved muscle tone, better breathing habits, stress reduction, better sleep, and an improved sense of well-being.

YOGA FOR ALL VIA ZOOM
Yoga is looking a little different due to the current pandemic, and we would like to extend our offering to clients that need to stay home because they are at high risk, or are living with someone that is high risk.
Zoom allows studios and yoga teachers to re-create some semblance of a normal yoga class. For props, yoga teachers have been recommending makeshift options that can be found around students’ homes, like a rolled-up towel in place of a bolster, stacked books for blocks, or an old T-shirt as a strap.
It’s not the same as an in-person class, but one of the benefits are that you can show up in your pajamas!
